This program helps transition experienced foreign workers in agricultural and food industries to permanent residence in Canada. This is for full time year round employment. Other changes to the program include removing limits to how many candidates can apply for a specific occupation, expanding open work permit access to family members (any skill level), enabling their home unions to attest to the work experience (employers were not always accessible or willing to provide reference letters), applicants already residing in Canada can either meet the job offer requirement or the educational requirement to be eligible, and accepting work experience gained under an open work permit for vulnerable works.
