A live webinar presented by BCLNA to support practical, science-based approaches to Chafer management

The European Chafer Beetle remains a persistent and costly pest across turf in British Columbia, yet clear and consistent information on how to manage it is often lacking. Our region has gone a long time without a formal information session on this topic, leading to confusion, inconsistent treatment, and a disconnect between science and regulation.

This live webinar is designed specifically for landscapers, turf care professionals, and municipal workers who deal directly with the impacts of this pest. Presented by the British Columbia Landscape & Nursery Association (BCLNA), this session offers the foundational knowledge and applied expertise needed to confidently respond to Chafer outbreaks.

Dr. Deborah Henderson, Director of the Institute for Sustainable Horticulture at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, will provide insight into the biology, life cycle, and spread of the pest in BC, as well as the challenges that arise when policy doesn’t align with ecological realities.

Chris Lemcke, National Technical Director at Weed Man, will share a practical guide to best practices, drawing from his extensive field experience across Canada. Attendees will gain valuable insight into effective treatment strategies, proper timing, and how to communicate realistic outcomes to clients and the public.

Whether you’re a residential landscape professional, managing municipal turf and parks, or focused on commercial and strata management, this session will help align your approach with current knowledge and proven methods.
