Ground Disturbance
Ground Disturbance and Safe Digging
The landscaping industry regularly ranks among the top offenders when it comes to strikes on underground utilities. It’s a serious issue—but one we can change together.
Underground infrastructure powers our communities - electricity, gas, water, internet, and more - and it's everywhere, even in the smallest yards and boulevards. Hitting these hidden systems can cause injuries, costly delays, or outages that affect hospitals, schools, and neighbourhoods.
Our goal is to work together to reduce the number of incidents caused by landscape-related ground disturbance. Your experience, awareness, and commitment to safe practices can help make our industry a leader in safety—not a top offender.
Why Safe Digging Matters
- Prevent injuries and damage on job sites
- Avoid fines, liability, and costly delays
- Protect critical infrastructure and community services
- Elevate the reputation of the landscape industry
- Damage prevention is a shared responsibility across all sectors
