Mount Seymour United Church - Labyrinth

This project emerged in response to the COVID lockdowns, when the client reimagined the property as a place of connection by “turning the church inside out.” The resulting landscape creates a welcoming threshold between the site and the surrounding neighbourhood, offering space for gathering, reflection, and community while acknowledging the Indigenous heritage of the land.

Community, inclusion, and reconciliation shaped every decision — from the layout of the spaces to the collaborative process itself. Indigenous plants anchor the design, supporting local ecology and encouraging wildlife. The landscape removes physical and emotional barriers often associated with religious spaces, creating an open, accessible environment rooted in stewardship, respect, and connection.
