BC Ag Days is an event organized by the BC Agriculture Council where farmers, including nursery growers, have an opportunity to sit down with government officials and advocate for broad agricultural issues to Ministers, MLAs, and affiliated agencies like the Agricultural Land Commission. BCLNA participated in bringing attention to the top two issues for agriculture: access to water, including water storage, and increasing costs of production, especially the carbon tax. BCLNA, along with the United Flower Growers had the opportunity to speak with Minister Alexis and top senior officials about a few of our top issues. Items discussed included our request for a replacement for Dave Woodske, our previous industry specialist, relief from raising input costs, and assistance in researching ways to make business risk programs work better for our sector.

Thank you to Len Smit, our member who also sits on the BCAC Board and Dave Sept for attending these meetings along with staff.

I’d also like the take this opportunity to remind all our BCLNA members that you have a voice. If there is something you’d like us to address, please let us know.

Thanks for your continued support,
Robbie Wein, Growers Chair
