In July, Metro Vancouver began public consultation on their proposal for a Potential Cannabis Production and Processing Emission Regulation. “After attending the first consultation session and meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture, BCAC has determined that this issue could establish a precedent for the entire agriculture industry.

We believe that Metro Vancouver is positioning ‘VOC’s as a pollution concern’ to side-step right-to-farm protections and to achieve their real goal, which is to regulate odour. Metro Vancouver has the legitimate authority to regulate air emissions (like VOCs), but it does not have the authority to regulate odour on agricultural lands, which is why we believe Metro Vancouver is linking the two.”
