Yesterday, BC Agriculture Council (BCAC) and WALI met with the BC Ministers of Labour and Agriculture. We are pleased to share that the ministers and their staff have heard farm employers’ concerns regarding the delays in processing applications. The Ministry of Labour is taking steps to ensure the backlog of applications is cleared as quickly as possible.

If you are waiting for a certificate, please be patient for a little longer. It may take time for Ministry staff to work through all the files, but we believe that important progress is being made. All certificates will now be valid for three years. BCAC and WALI staff will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that progress is sustained.

Please be reminded that all farm employers hiring TFWs must register with the BC government before submitting an LMIA to Service Canada. To register, please visit the Registry website.
