Fossil Landscape Construction & Ron Rule Consultants Ltd.
Whilst an indoor pool extension was being added to the house, Fossil Landscape Construction was entrusted with a full renovation of this grand West Vancouver estate. The entire property was enclosed with metal fencing, and both driveways received new motorized gates with stone pillars. A sculptural metal pergola was added on a bedrock outcrop at the highest point of the property, to capitalize on stunning ocean views. Areas furthest from the house were kept natural yet manicured; areas closer to the residence were treated more formally, such as the paved entry courtyard, front curved walkway and the desination fire-pit terrace.

The Johnson residence is a single family home in the middle of North Vancouver. It is surrounded by numerous other homes of all styles and ages. The home was undergoing a major remodel and facelift, so this was the perfect time to upgrade the landscape. The idea behind the landscape was to create privacy, be grand but not overwhelming, have separate areas for dining, lounging and vegetable gardening, as well as being functional and practical. The homeowners were involved in the design process from start to finish to help create the outdoor living space of their dreams.
Gardenia Landscaping Ltd.
The project at 967 Dempsey Road involved the complete re-imagining of a backyard property, transforming it from an unattractive amalgam of disjointed and disconnected spaces into a tranquil, cohesive garden that would be an extension of the owners’ family room and where they could comfortably entertain their large family and circle of friends. The space would embrace the owners’ desire for a large water feature, in-ground irrigation and in-ground lighting to highlight the garden’s beauty at night, together with a fire pit for evening enjoyment. The garden also reflects the owners’ request for plants that attract birds, bees and butterflies.
